DMA West, Wales and Midlands
This month's top news
Creative Data Academy came to Birmingham for the first time as part of the DMA's continuing investment in the midlands. Thirty students with an interest in careers in data benefited from a packed three day programme which included speakers from Jaguar Land Rover, Boots and Thames Water - plus an agency visit to McCann Birmingham.
There are also plans increase the DMA's activity in another important part of the region - the south coast. Bournemouth will host our highly successful copywriting clubs in addition to Bristol beginning this summer with more events to follow later in the year.
Dates for your diary
The next DMA West and Wales regional council meeting will take place in Bristol at 3pm on 17 May. With a focus on community growth and engagement, the aim of the council is to connect marketers with guidance and best practice and also to educate through networking and knowledge sharing. If you'd like to attend and join in the conversation please get in touch with me - my contact details are below.
The most rewardingly hard to win awards in the business are back - entries for the DMA Awards open on 2 July. Let's make this a year to remember for our region and bring some more gold awards back from Old Billingsgate in December. It's never too early to start planning your entries, so for more information on this year's categories and how to enter click here
It's also good to know
Our region is making good progress in helping DMA members to harness the power of neurodiversity - the diversity of human brains and minds. Neurological differences are now being recognised and respected like any other human variation.
Workplaces which advocate such variations of human wiring are soon realising that employees who see the world differently often hold the key to solving complex problems.
If your organisation would like to join the neurodiversity revolution and benefit from a free awareness workshop please get in touch with me.
And don't forget the DMA is here to advise you on all things GDPR. You can view the latest guidance here and our in-house solicitors are available to provide free and unlimited legal advice. The next regional legal update will take place at Osborne Clarke's Bristol offices on the afternoon of 11 July. Ensure you continue to stay updated and book your free place today.
